Original artwork description
It's early. Too early for voices, for words, for anything requiring effort. Yet the sun has already risen, now gently warming the bowl where blueberries float in milk like tiny planets adrift in a white galaxy.
The shadows still hold their chill. They sprawl across the surface as blue islands steeped in the color of morning sky—that particular sky which exists only now, only in these fleeting moments when the world hasn't yet decided what kind of day it will be. But where the light touches, everything grows warm as if draped in the thinnest golden veil.
The air smells of currant leaves. Ahead lies a whole day. A whole summer.
You set the book aside. Now is not the time for others' words. Now belongs to this: to blueberries bleeding their purple into milk, to bees commencing their drowsy patrol, to that peculiar certainty that happiness isn't elsewhere—but here, in this bowl, in this sunbeam, in this morning already yours.
