While creating Brass Under the Stars, I aimed to capture the invisible energy of music filling the space. The focus of the composition lies in the intensity and immersion of the two brass players. I used a semi-realistic style for the figures but contrasted it with a starry, abstract background—splashes of white on deep black—to evoke a sense of musical notes dancing through a cosmic night.
I layered dynamic strokes of yellow and white light behind the musicians to simulate the resonance of music and stage lights. This blend of realism and abstraction brings a rhythmic and almost dreamlike quality to the scene. The quick, bold brushstrokes used on the instruments emphasize their metallic texture, while strong lighting contrast shapes the figures, recreating the drama of a live performance. In this process, I felt like a conductor painting a silent yet powerful brass symphony.
