I’ve done many versions of this image over the past decade. The first one was prompted by learning of my brother’s preparing to sell his house in California, and move. When I heard the news I was very sad at the idea that I’d never again be in the Home where all of our Family Gatherings had taken place for many years, and where we’d made so many precious memories. This caused me to begin contemplating just what it was that makes “A house, a home”. I was living in Collioure, France at the time, where we were very happy. So I used inspiration from our own Home, combined with details from interiors by Van Gogh and Dufy, to create this Image. The edges of the canvas are painted so it can be hung unframed if preferred.
