"Blue Hour" is one of the few circular abstract paintings in my portfolio, sharing the same intimate scale and round format like "Drink in some Red", yet offering a completely different emotional atmosphere. Created with mixed media acrylic techniques on raw, self‑stretched canvas, this small but expressive artwork explores the calming and restorative qualities of blue. The circular shape invites a softer rhythm and a sense of flow, allowing the composition to unfold in a powerful, but parallel calming and harmonious way.
The painting is dominated by layered blue tones, ranging from deep, atmospheric hues to lighter, almost translucent passages and energetic mark making. Blue, as the colour of sky and water, stands for freshness, clarity, and renewal.
