Original artwork description
‘Shroom’ is an impression of those tender gills under the cap of a mushroom. I cant remember a time when I was cooking with mushrooms and didn't pause to admire and run my finger along the layers of that soft tissue. With my focus on line art, I gravitated towards things that appeared to have lines and layers, and organized the originally loose line strokes into a figure in this piece which I painted much later than the first line art paintings from the collection ‘Tangled.’
Though originally, the reference for this painting were the gills of a mushroom, the result (perhaps evoked my its bright orange lush color) is an impression of many things found in organic matter - including gills which appear in many organisms and flowers.
‘Shroom’ was featured at the Summer Exhibition by LIC Arts Open in New York (2019).
Painting is framed in a 22" x 30" Metal frame is made from extremely rigid and high-quality aluminum with a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant color finish. The frame comes with Clear Framing Grade Acrylic that offers beautiful clarity at half the weight of glass and many times the impact resistance. Additionally, it blocks some ultraviolet light.
