Original artwork description
I discovered this lovely spot to paint the South Downs stretching out on either side of Black Cap near Lewes, it had been a hot day, too hot to be out in the sun, so I left it until late afternoon to paint. I was rewarded with a splendid sunset, the fields of wheat and barley ablaze with golden hues, contrasting with the cool green curves of the Downs.
