Bulls have always been known as the sign of strength, vitality and vigour. I grew up on a farm with a guard bull. Scary and fun memories of hide and seek. Sometimes, the things that you are scared of, are also the things you are attracted to- the morbid attraction.
That is the story with the bull and bison drawings. I identify with the bull for its testosterone fuelled energy and the rawness. Charcoal is the perfect medium for bull and bison drawings. The strokes are rough and full of energy, similar to their nature. I aim to make a life sized bull drawing in charcoal. Ofcourse shipping it and framing it will be a logistical challenge.
More recently, i've been focusing on bison. They have a wildness and ruggedness that I really enjoy capturing on paper.
