Birtvisi Canyon was born from a fleeting moment that refused to be ignored. At the end of September 2022, while driving toward my summer house near the canyon of Birtvisi, I saw the fields glowing in bands of gold, green, and amber beneath the mountains. The light was shifting fast, the air already touched by autumn, and the land looked alive with quiet movement. I stopped because I knew this scene would vanish within minutes if I didn’t capture it.

The painting is inspired by that instant of urgency and wonder—the kind artists recognize as a call rather than a choice. What makes this work special to me is its personal geography: it is not just a landscape, but a place tied to memory, routine, and return. I know this road, these fields, this sky. Painting it was both an act of observation and of belonging. The textured brushwork reflects the wind in the grasses and the rugged character of the canyon hills, preserving not only what I saw, but how it felt to stand there.
