Birth of a Torii #12 (先斗町 PONTOCHO)

The twelfth work in a series re-imagining the origin of the traditional Japanese gate to a sacred space or Shinto shrine, TORII (鳥居).

One late night on Pontocho (先斗町) in Kyoto, a TORII (鳥居) comes to be.

Painted with acrylics on canvas. Using razor blades and brushes, a foundation of colors are layered to a rich texture, and overlaid with intricate lines and geometric patterns resembling circuitry.
