‘BILLY AND LUCY IN THE SUN’ is an acrylic painting 28x20 cms on 300gms canvas paper. It is presented in a white card mount 35x28cms. It is a painting that functions in an almost metaphorical way working with association, memory rather than resemblance. Whilst observations of what has been and is observed remain central to the art work, the marks and gestures are without descriptive drawing. The subject, a summer garden with two dogs ‘sunbathing’ becomes embodied with colourful gestural marks. The transformation of the subject’s appearance is the result of physical description being combined with passages expressive of feelings. It is an emotional response to an everyday event. The painting can be bought in a white glazed frame if preferred with additional shipping costs.
