Original artwork description

„The sea! the sea! The endless sea! The deep, the wild, the eternally free!“

As viewers engage with my work, I hope they are gently transported into my world — a life spent sailing around the globe with my family for seven years.
It was an extraordinary journey: seven years, 30,000 nautical miles (55,000 kilometers), 28 countries. Storms and towering waves, transatlantic crossings, the almost incomprehensible vastness of the Pacific, weeks without land in sight, and remote, isolated islands.

The “Beyond the Sea” series captures the essence of the ocean and the experience of sailing, a profound sense of freedom and adventure and especially the intensity of offshore passage-making.
