Between Sky and Water (2026)Acrylic painting by Oksana Vasylyeva

100 x 100 x 2cm (unframed) / 100 x 100cm (actual image size)

£3,000

This painting was created slowly, quietly and without haste. I did not intend to capture a specific place, but rather a feeling - a moment when the landscape almost dissolves into the atmosphere and the boundaries between sky, water and land become blurred. I am fascinated by the moment when the light softens the colors so much that everything seems like a memory.

For me, the golden grasses in the foreground represent both fragility and strength at the same time. They are rooted in the earth, yet they move with every gust of wind. In contrast to the calm surface of the water, they create a subtle tension between movement and stillness. I deliberately chose pastel tones so that the painting would not appear dramatic, but would offer space for stopping and quiet reflection.

While painting, I thought about those moments when you stand alone by the water and it feels like time has stopped for a moment. If the viewer feels even a fraction of this peace and openness, then the painting has served its purpose.
