Between dreams and reality (2024) Original Acrylic Painting by Lander Ver Eecke

80 x 120 x 3cm (unframed)

£1,188.89

This painting explores the tension and connection between two extremes — dream and reality.

A dream is boundless. It knows no limits, no rules. It is the space where imagination runs free, where anything is possible. Reality, by contrast, is defined by boundaries — shaped by choices made, paths taken, events beyond our control.

These two states are represented through two opposing surfaces on the same canvas. One plane is heavily cracked and fractured — a thick, sculptural relief of self-made texture paste that has split and broken as it dried, creating a landscape of infinite detail and unpredictable form. The other plane is smooth and flat — calm, defined, resolved.

Yet both share the same deep red. They are not opposites at war, but complements — each needing the other to exist. Dreams give reality its direction. Reality gives dreams their meaning.

It is left entirely to the viewer to decide which surface represents the dream and which represents reality. And that answer may change over time — just as our dreams and our reality do.

Original, one-of-a-kind work. Ready to hang.
