Original artwork description
As an artist who loves the still lifes of the old masters with their multicolor layers and deep transparent shadows, I am fascinated by the local colors and the abundance of nature's gifts here in Turkey.
One day, while wandering through the local markets, I came across a variety of beautiful berries and fruits in shades of red, purple, and blue.
They reminded me of the more northern berries I got as a child: currants, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries, which are not native here in Turkey. This piece may look different than others because it is filled with childhood memories, it is a window into my inner world at the level of feelings.
For this painting, I chose a dark background to create a dramatic contrast with the bright colors of the berries and fruits. Using the techniques of the old masters, I built up the layers of paint, gradually building depth and texture.
