"Benvenuta" is a visual recording of the exact moment an illusion ends and an awakening begins.

Started in the brutalist, shadow-filled landscape of Latina, this work captures a paradoxical transformation. What began as an effort to preserve a crumbling past — a marriage, a home, a direction — resulted in a radical structural collapse. The cracks in the wall are the physical manifestations of a sudden, sharp epiphany.

While the skeletal tree and the "view within a view" draw from the Magrittean surrealist tradition, the painting is deeply grounded in a lived reality. The lemon on the sill remains the only unbroken element: a sacred relic of Sicily and a golden anchor to the artist's true self.

This piece is not about the tragedy of the fracture, but about the awakening it forced. It is a "welcome" to the stinging, brilliant light of a new consciousness—the moment of waking up when the dream has finally ended.
