Original artwork description:

Beneath a Slow Sky was painted from a place of stillness, where the focus shifted away from gesture and towards mood. I was thinking about the feeling of looking up rather than out, about time stretching and the way colour can soften the sense of movement. The blues and greens began to layer gradually, building a surface that feels calm but never flat.

I work by responding to the paint as it settles, allowing one area to guide the next. Some passages were worked slowly, with repeated strokes creating a gentle rhythm, while others were left lighter and more open, giving the painting space to breathe. The lighter areas are not highlights in the usual sense, but moments of quiet where the eye can rest before moving on again.

At 28 x 40 inches, this piece has a calm, grounded presence that suits both intimate and open spaces. It works well in rooms where you want a sense of ease and balance, somewhere the atmosphere matters as much as the visual. This is a painting to live with, one that reveals itself gradually and becomes part of the everyday rhythm of a space.
