£1,200

Original 3D mixed media collage of vintage maps, birch ply, and gold leaf

Constructed from precisely cut strips of vintage and modern maps, 'Belonging' forms a concentric grid that pulls the viewer inward, echoing the layered shifting nature of place, memory and movement.

Using cartographic fragments sourced from across the world, some over 150 years old, this piece reveals how borders, place names and political territories are in constant flux. Each map line speaks to human movement: migration, displacement, occupation and settlement.

Belonging invites reflection on the tension between permanence and change, on what it means to claim space, to inherit land or to be forever in motion. At its core, it is a meditation on home, territory and the fragile systems that define where we believe we belong.
