Bed of Roses (2024) Original Mixed-media Sculpture by Roland Köpfer

The assemblage is a homage to the wooden spoon and to Bon Jovi's song "Bed of Roses". It consists of three parts. The base begins with a hollowed-out tree bead/burl wood from beech. This base is glued to a tinder fungus, which has also been peeled out and the inside of which is treated with precious wax. The very thin-walled and hard shell is filled with dried red rose petals. Inside lies a wooden spoon figure with a small vessel. The spoon is hand-carved from a single piece, also oiled burl beech. A pinch of salt or something similar can be kept in it. The half nude can of course be removed to work on its own or to complement an existing collection. A special piece that every collector of wooden spoons will immediately recognize. It would also make a very unusual gift for a loved one. The dimensions of the spoon sculpture are 22 x 6 x 5 cm, the space required for the assemblage is 25 x 23 x 12 cm and the weight is 314 grams. A certificate from the artist Roland Köpfer is enclosed with the shipment.
