Bear Mode No.3 is an original abstract nature-inspired painting by contemporary artist Sara Richardson. The Bear Mode painting series is a tribute to the different and sometimes complicated stages of life. Each little petal, tangle and leaf represents a moment in life be it wonderful, awe-inspiring, good or even not so terrific...it's all about honoring time and how it transforms us, shapes our being into who we are.

This painting in person is playful and has contrasting visual / surface elements of warm gold metallic with leaves created from ivory black oil paint. The additional petals and leaves are made with a semi-matte acrylic paint. I love the idea of 'patch-working' different pieces together, mimicking patent leather with paint, the shine of metallics and weaving vivid shapes within the flurry of muted colors.
