Beach Song 17 (2021)Mixed-media sculpture
by Philip Hearsey

£1,250

Original artwork description

The work is not intrusive and is a quietly beautiful reminder of the miracles of time, erosion and the coastal landscape. There is a story waiting to be uncovered uniquely by each onlooker to make the sculpture complete.
The polished bronze pebble dynamically reflects light and its surroundings, sitting atop a wonderfully shaped sea-washed granite stone; the result of the endless motion of water, sand and other rocks over many years. The oak base shows the individuality of grain and unique marking, harvested from a tree felled by the wind.
The sculpture can be moved from place to place, enriching every new space it occupies and presenting a fresh dialogue with the viewer.
The bronze pebble is not protected and will naturally dull down over time or tarnish more rapidly if touched a lot. It is easily removed and rebuffed to a full shine using any suitable metal polish.
The sculpture is signed on the back of the bronze pebble with my monogram signature and uniquely numbered 601 on the underside of the base.

Materials used:

Bronze, granite and oak
