Bather and her Dog Charmouth Beach 2021
A canvas that I began on location to Dorset, UK. I had the intention of touring and painting on the way, finding interesting locations and staying for an hour or two whilst I made observational paintings. The canvas was left unfinished at this stage and completed in the studio adding figures and resolving the composition. Living in London, my experience like many other city dwellers on arrival at the seaside is to stare in awe at the sense of space and light that is often an overriding first impression, I have tried to capture the energy of the Jurassic coast, the wild sea, people enjoying a summer vacation at a typical English beach.
