Original artwork description
Axis of Still Waters is a contemporary abstract painting that explores the meeting point between structure, reflection, and open space. Created in 2026, this original acrylic artwork is part of my ongoing exploration of geometry, atmosphere, and the visual language of contemporary interiors.
While painting this piece, I was inspired by the idea that every space contains invisible points of connection — places where movement slows, forms intersect, and separate elements become part of a larger whole. Through layered textures, architectural lines, and expressive gestures, I sought to create a composition that feels both grounded and expansive.
Built with multiple layers of acrylic paint using palette knives, brushes, scraping techniques, and spontaneous mark-making, the surface reveals depth and complexity from every angle. A sophisticated palette of ivory white, soft gray, taupe, charcoal black, deep blue-black, and warm ochre creates a refined balance between light and contrast. The warm ochre accents introduce subtle energy and visual warmth, while darker passages provide structure and presence.
The textured surface continuously changes with natural light, revealing delicate transitions, hidden layers, and painterly details throughout the day. From a distance, the composition appears calm and architectural; up close, it reveals an intricate network of textures, marks, and interactions between color and form.
Designed for collectors of contemporary abstract art, Axis of Still Waters works beautifully in modern, minimalist, Japandi, Scandinavian, and luxury interiors. Its square format and neutral palette make it particularly effective as a statement piece above a sofa, console, fireplace, or in professional architectural spaces.
For me, this painting is about connection, reflection, and the quiet strength found within simplicity.
