🌸 Awakening Magnolia 🌸

This piece is inspired by the magnolia in my garden, just as it begins to awaken in early spring. The sky is painted with bronze palladium chrome paint for a subtle metallic shimmer.

For the first time, I worked with handmade oil sticks (oil paint + beeswax) — a satisfying process that allowed me to achieve colours that perfectly matched my vision.

The base is digitally manipulated photography mounted on canvas, enhanced with gel medium for texture and relief, and finished with oil paint and my handmade oil sticks. The combination gives depth and life to the surface.

The sides are painted in a warm orange-rose tone, and the piece is framed in a dark brown floating frame that echoes the side colours.

📏 Size: 120 × 120 cm (unframed) | 124 × 124 × 6 cm (framed)

A dialogue between nature, photography, and material experimentation — observation and process captured in one piece.

Materials used:

Print, heavy gel medium, acrylics, oil, oilbars, satin coating.
