Heavily impasto, this dynamic and vivid work is named after the birthplace of St Teresa. St Teresa experienced ecstatic unions which were so overwhelming that she had to give account to The Spanish Inquisitions as they were suspicious of women who felt their connection to God through religious encounters.
It seems that some people feel things more deeply than others, whether that be spiritually or through the senses. This work is an explosion of that kind of receptivity to a stimulus. Colour can provoke intense reactions and this work is both the reaction and the stimulus.
