Autumn Light in the Valley (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Paul Cheng

I wanted to capture the vivid sensation of autumn sunlight illuminating a mountain valley. The cool blue mountains in the distance contrast strongly with the brilliant orange, red, and golden foliage, while the river in the foreground carries reflections of the sky, mountains, and autumn colors across its surface. Rather than describing every detail, I used direct, simplified, and rhythmic brushstrokes to construct the mountains, trees, rocks, and flowing water. Saturated blues, oranges, and reds intensify the energy of the season, bringing both tranquility and movement to the landscape.
