I encountered this peaceful scene in the Japanese countryside, where a cluster of pink and white cosmos flowers bloomed vividly against a rustic, old house with traditional roof tiles.
My intention for this painting was to capture the gentle transition of seasons. I painted the background and the sky with soft, muted tones to let the delicate cosmos flowers stand out as the main feature. Instead of forcing too much detail onto the canvas, I left the brushstrokes loose and light, seeking to convey the warm, nostalgic, and slightly breezy feeling of an early autumn afternoon in Japan.
