A serene immersion into the light and texture of the Snowy Valleys.

This original oil painting captures the iconic leaning river gums along the banks of the Tumut River in New South Wales. Painted with a focus on "wet-into-wet" impressionist techniques, I wanted to capture the specific energy of the Australian high country—the way the afternoon light catches the peeling bark of the eucalyptus and creates dancing reflections on the glassy water.

The composition uses the vertical strength of the gums to frame the gentle curve of the river, leading the eye into the soft haze of the distance. The palette is a harmony of earthy ochres, soft greens, and the brilliant blues typical of a clear Australian sky.

Technical Details & Framing:

Medium: Professional grade oils on board.

Technique: Impressionist palette knife and brushwork for a rich, tactile surface.
