Au Lapin Agile is the name of a small, well-known cabaret bar with a remarkable history. It sits at the foot of a hill in Montmartre, Paris. I lived close by and popped in whenever I could. The intoxicating atmosphere was a heady mix of the intimate space, the wonderful patrons and the amazing acts. Those glorious evenings are etched in my memory and this painting is a tribute to all intimate cabaret. Painted on a fine textured, professionally stretched linen canvas, using Old Holland and Michael Harding artist's quality oils and mediums and finished with a light satin varnish.
