Artwork Statement

"Apotheosis" is another work in my "Augury: series of oil paintings that symbolically represents a new mythology for the times we are living in.

The central figure represents the emergence of a new consciousness, representing artificial intelligence and super computing, the two bird headed figures represent the relenting dual aspects of the natural world making way for the new goddess who rises with seductive mechanical authority.

“Augury” series statement

This series of works weaves together themes of mythology, science fiction, esoterica and the occult into old master inspired fantasy dreamscapes. These works represent something ancient and modern, drawing inspiration from the renaissance and baroque periods. The method used requires an underpainting in earth tones with translucent layers of oils to build the overall colour scheme. Details are added and refined as the work progresses.
