I painted this corner of Antibes as if I were catching the fleeting breath of the South.
The light settled on the house so gently that I wanted to blend it with my brush.
The palm before me is not just a tree, but a living burst of movement and wind.
I was not seeking precision of form; what mattered was the tremor of color.
Each stroke is an impulse, almost a nerve connecting me to this place.
Shadows vibrate like music, and colors argue and reconcile upon the canvas.
And in this seeming carelessness lies my whole truth about sunlit Antibes.
