Japanese Anemones (2026)Linocut by Amanda Ribbans

30 x 40cm

£190

This print depicts white Japanese Anemones, a flower with personal meaning for me. For several years I had tried, unsuccessfully, to grow the white variety, so seeing it finally flower this year felt like a quiet but genuine achievement. The anemones were in bloom when I returned from holiday, and they felt like a welcome home—an acknowledgement of time passing and of the patience required to grow them. I was so delighted by their abundance that I wanted to mark the moment through printmaking.

This is a reduction linoprint meaning it is a small edition. Reduction is a relief printing technique where a single block is progressively carved away and printed in multiple colours, usually from light to dark. Because more of the same block is cut away between each colour layer, the process is destructive, meaning the entire edition must be printed at once.

Materials used:

Ink and archival paper
