Original artwork description:

While painting this piece, I wanted to express the buffalo’s unwavering strength and calm resilience in the harsh winter. Its gaze holds both wild intensity and a quiet wisdom shaped by the natural world. I hoped viewers could sense the stillness of the plains, the weight of the snow, and the stubborn persistence of life in the wilderness.
I used meticulous brushstrokes to build layered textures in the fur, making frost and snow visible against the dark coat. Subtle transitions of cool and warm grays enhance the wintry atmosphere and the buffalo’s monumental presence. In the handling of light and shadow, I emphasized the gaze and the frosted muzzle to give the animal a powerful yet tranquil aura.
