Ancestral Hearth: The Trypillia Code (2025)Acrylic painting by Tetiana Pchelnykova
30 x 30 x 2cm (unframed)
£349.39
Original artwork description
This work is an experimental fragment of the series "Trypillia Civilization. Memory in Color", which explores the legacy of pre-classical European culture as a source of resilience and authentic identity.
The canvas embodies a journey spanning 7,500 years. The artist deliberately moves away from vibrant color in favor of materiality, utilizing an earthen palette to emphasize antiquity and mystery. The surface is heavily textured with embedded organic elements—clay and sand—in which cracks (fissures) are deliberately induced. These fissures serve as a metaphor: they symbolize the erosion of time and historical damage to memory, yet they do not destroy, but merely confirm its enduring strength.
The central focus is the symbol of the Double Rhombus, traditionally interpreted as Protection and Amulet. Within the rhombus are three segments (fields), representing the Ancestral Great House and the cycle of life. The work invites the viewer to tactilely feel the weight of millennia and activate this symbolic code to find inner resilience and a connection to nature, despite the alienation of the modern world.
