Not immediately in the centre of the city, by a wide canal sits a blue fronted coffee shop. It is intensely hot. Inside, patrons are relaxed, the air pungent and intoxicating. It is an exotic place, full of life and otherness, a whole world, a place of fragrance and spice, a place where freedom rules, where time sits still. The work is rich in colour, light and detail. The canvas is 0.4 inches deep and can therefore hang without the need for further framing.
