Americana reimagines the American flag through layers of contemporary culture—constructed from current magazines, newspapers, comic strips, and even a paper burger hat. Each element is carefully chosen to reflect the noise, humor, and culture of the present-day United States.
On top of the mixed media collage, the stars and stripes are painted using a bold red, white, and blue palette, with unexpected tweaks of neon —small but deliberate details that hint at commercialism, chaos, and excitement. Highlights of 24 kt gold and silver leaf shimmer beneath a glossy resin finish, adding both glamour and tension to the work’s message.

About the artist:
Emma Loizides is a self-taught artist from London with a love for pop art. Emma creates oil paintings of idealised urban landscapes; inspired by city life, travels, and the sensations of colour. Her signature style can be found in her candy hued street scenes and energetic urban vistas which evoke escapism.
