This painting began as an exploration of movement and colour, using orchids as a starting point but allowing them to evolve into something more expressive and immersive. Rich tones of violet, plum and deep magenta move across the canvas in layers, with drips, splashes and scattered petals creating a sense of flow and energy.

The long, twisting roots became an important part of the piece, grounding the composition while also guiding the eye through it. I love how they weave through the colour, giving structure and a sculptural element to the artwork whilst highlighting the wild and untamed nature of the orchids.

Painted in oil on a large scale, this work is designed to be experienced up close, where the details and textures reveal themselves, and from a distance, where it becomes a bold, atmospheric statement full of depth, movement and feeling.
