Amalfi Coast (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by BAST

£941.38

Mixed media painting made with acrylic paints, collage, mirrors. The base is a canvas on a wooden stretcher.

This place seems to have been dreamed up by a dream itself: a place where the sun can be seen, felt, and even peered into. The enormous golden mirror at the top of the composition becomes not just a source of light, but a veritable portal between reality and fantasy. It reflects the sky, space, and perhaps even the viewer, inviting them to briefly become part of this fantasy world.

Sunny flowers bloom around, delicate white daisies, and butterflies flutter. Below, a vibrant seascape with a whimsical rocky town, as if straight out of a fairy tale. Conventional boundaries exist here: the town meets the sea, the sea meets the blooming garden, and the real sun breaks beyond the canvas. Every detail seems to speak of a place that never existed, yet somehow feels remarkably familiar.

This work is part of the "Impossible Landscapes" series from the artist's "When Worlds Touch" cycle. In this series, the artist combines the incompatible and creates spaces that could not exist in reality, but can easily exist in the imagination. Here, geography gives way to fantasy, and the familiar landscape becomes a journey between worlds.

"Amalfi Coast" is an invitation to believe that somewhere, somewhere, there exists a place where summer never ends, the sea is always azure, butterflies know their way to the sun, and dreams have their own address.
