Matte black acrylic and 23.5 carat gold on cradled Ampersand Gessobord.
Working with metal leaf is so cool, and then I have been trying to think of ideas about gold, to create in gold.
The Ampersand Gessobord was a game changer because however many times I coat wooden panels with gesso and sand between coats, I can't get them that smooth. The combination of a super smooth surface with multiple layers of matte black acrylic gives a surface thats almost like velvet. The gold leaf on top creates a great contrast.
I really tried to make everything perfect, but of course the size leaked out a bit under the stencils, I love these unintentional accidents, they are the best bit!
