Artwork description
An aerial view of Leeds, a city in Yorkshire in the UK, showing its rapid transformation with new high-rise buildings. The composition is focused on the twisting lines of communication with rail, river, canal and roads weaving and winding together though the city scape. It began as part of an urban sketch day sitting on the rooftop of the Candle building - a cylindrical high rise near the railway station. The drawing became this etching - a juxtaposition of the ancient and the very new. This view was drawn only six months ago but is already different.
Materials used:
copper plate, black and Prussian blue etching ink, ferric chloride
Details:
- Etchings & engravings on Paper
- From a limited edition of 50
- Size: 40 x 33cm (unframed) / 30 x 25cm (actual image size)
- Signed and numbered on the front
- Style: Illustrative
- Subject: Architecture and cityscapes
