During my years of travelling I was fortunate to meet many races and cultures of people.I was struck by the unmanicured beauty of the poorest people I met,including this beautiful Afghan girl who had the most stunning weathered features.I knew that ne day I would be tempted to portray her in pencil or paint.I've chosen to portray her in graphite pencil because I think drawings can be more impressive than coloured paintings.
