Aetherius Reverie Ruber is part of a series of works that question the materiality of painting itself. This piece was created without traditional paintbrushes or layers of pigment. Instead, I transferred an AI-generated image onto canvas using a fragile, manual process involving pressure, gesso, and the intentional breakdown of the image.
The figure emerges incomplete, as if dissolving into memory. A streak of red-pink pigment—barely there—cuts across the composition like a pulse. The texture is raw, the surface unstable.
With almost no paint, this painting becomes about what remains and what disappears. It’s a tactile meditation on fragility, memory, and the blurred boundary between technology and emotion.
