The painting is defined by a striking contrast of colors: on the one hand, cool turquoise and blue-to-blue-black tones; on the other, warm, earthy hues such as rust orange, copper red, browns and magenta. To complement these, I mixed in shades of green, white and a touch of yellow. This creates an almost mysterious tension that makes viewing this portrait-format painting a delight, inviting the observer to let their thoughts and feelings roam freely.
The richly detailed center invites the viewer to discover the many contrasts and lends the painting a lively, positive character. The color transitions in the background are softer and applied in broader, flatter areas.
