A large, bold, architectural composition that explores the tension between balance and fragmentation through shape, space, and surface. Inspired by my interest in visual structure, modernist abstraction, and the quiet order found in ancient stonework and layered archives, this piece plays with containment and the illusion of weight.
The work is composed of textured, interlocking forms in muted tones of sage green, soft blush, charcoal, dusty white, and dense black. These elements sit within a rich, earthy red border that frames the composition like a worn cover of an old codex. The colour palette is intentionally subdued, creating a quiet but grounded energy—allowing each form to speak through its texture, subtle imperfections, and surface marks.
Layers of paint have been applied and scraped back using a palette knife, leaving behind small traces of underlying colour and gestural memory. These add personality to the structured design and hint at the work’s process-driven nature.
It invites contemplation. It speaks to systems, to memory, to the rhythm of construction and erasure. Though rooted in abstraction, its influence lies in tangible things: old pages, worn walls, fragments of built history.
The piece is sold unstretched, with generously painted margins to allow for professional stretching or float framing. Whether in a modern interior or minimalist setting, it offers a powerful, thoughtful presence.
Painted on high quality canvas using acrylic paint. Painting can be either stretched on wooden bars (with plenty of spare painted canvas to go around the sides - overall canvas size is 150cm x 105cm to be stretched on 140cm x 90cm bars) or mounted in a frame. The painting will be rolled up and safely packaged for postage.
