Original artwork description
This painting has been inspired by a story in Greek mythology about how Zeus, driven by his passionate lust, took the form of a mighty eagle to seduce and abduct a mortal youth named Ganymede who later became his personal cup bearer. It is interesting to observe how in our society the loss of innocence is always equated with the awakening of sexual desire in an individual. It is widely believed that sexual intimacy robs us of our innocence. On the other hand, this painting also brings forth the moral decay of sexual predators as they victimize young people to satiate their whims and fancies. I have used watercolor wash on handmade paper and drawn the details with a pen using waterproof ink.
