This piece began with a faded photograph of an old coastal house discovered during an evening walk—its peeling paint glowing blue-green against the last light. In the studio, multiple acrylic layers were built up with palette knife and glazing, then gently abraded to reveal traces beneath, echoing time’s erosion. The final gesture was the graphite-and-ink tree reflected in the pane, a quiet visitor that turns the window into a portal rather than a boundary.
