Artwork description
A TUSCAN MIRAGE I DREAMT
This image is born from a double exposure, two different corners of Tuscany captured separately and allowed to merge into one another, their lines blurring until neither place is fully recognisable anymore.
What remains is somewhere between memory and imagination — a landscape that could exist, but perhaps only in a dream.
I love how the layering softened everything into motion: the hills seem to breathe, the horizon dissolves rather than cuts, and nothing stays quite still. The composition rests on three loose bands — a sky heavy with drifting clouds, a dark ridge of hills barely holding its shape, and a warm, hazy foreground that glows as if lit from within. I wanted the eye to move slowly downward, the way mist settles over a valley at the end of the day.
The palette shifts from cool, muted blues and greys above to warm golds and ambers below, the two temperatures meeting right at the horizon line — that quiet threshold where sky and earth seem to negotiate with each other. It's this collision of warm and cool, sharp and soft, real and remembered, that gives the piece its dreamlike, almost mirage-like quality and slightly out of reach.
