A Thousand Shades of Blue captures the extraordinary beauty of a world beneath the surface, where shoals of tropical fish move through clear blue water and sunlight scatters into a thousand shifting fragments.
Layers of dripped and thrown paint build a richly textured underwater landscape, moving from deep shadow and jewel-like colour into luminous turquoise, aqua and white. Against this expressive background, the fish are painted with greater detail, their flashes of blue and yellow bringing life and movement to the composition.
I wanted the painting to have that wonderful feeling of slipping beneath warm water and discovering another world. Light dances, colours intensify and everything seems briefly weightless. A Thousand Shades of Blue is a celebration of that beautiful, fleeting moment, and of the colour, light and life hidden beneath the sea.

Due to its size, this artwork ships rolled in a tube. This is the safest way to transport large original artworks and allows me to offer it at a more competitive price. Any professional picture framer can stretch the canvas onto wooden stretcher bars, ready to hang, at a very reasonable cost.
