An Abstract study in rich oil paint.

This piece is an exploration in reducing the information to a minimum, but allowing the essence and atmosphere to the place to be distilled. In reducing the detail, I hope to allow the sense of place to shine quietly through, creating a peaceful representation of this English landscape.

A layer of oil paint was applied to this stretched high quality Loxley canvas, with further layers built up to create depth and texture. Rich greens and neutral tones of linen and white sit alongside each other, creating contrast in tone and texture.

Both palette knife and brush work create a texture to the glossy oil paint used in the top section. These marks show quite dramatically as the light falls on the surface of the artwork, as shown in the photographs.

Painted with Michael Harding Professional oil colours. The edges are painted white (please see additional photograph), and it is ready to hang. This artwork is signed and dated on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Ready to hang.

This painting will be carefully wrapped for shipping in tissue paper, foam board and bubble wrap, then placed in sturdy cardboard box.
