About Lorraine Tuck

Biography

Painting is a visceral pleasure that can last a lifetime - I want to swim in the paint and take you with me

I paint my world ... living in an ancient stone house with a rambling unruly garden, overlooking the river valley in a quintessential rural French village a long way from my London childhood, I paint seasonally, the morning mists, the weeds, the blooms, a glorious jumble of new life and decay.  The paintings are layered, full of texture and tiny details, images half buried, revealed, teetering on the line between figuration and abstraction.  They are intended to be enjoyed over a long period, always there are painterly secrets to be discovered in them.
Mostly mixed media, the paintings often include paper, pastel, acrylic, oil bar, watercolour, ink, whatever serves the purpose.  I hope my viewer finds moments of contemplation in the works.
The paintings are now held in private collections around the world and in 2014 one of the works was added to a public collection in France.  I have exhibited in Britain and France both solo and group shows.
