This painting is based on a personal photograph I took during my time in Finland.
I was completely captivated by the dramatic contrast between the moody, storm-laden sky and the vibrant red color of the cottage. I am so glad I could capture and recreate this singular, cozy moment of a typical Finnish scene
against the power of nature.

To achieve the deep, velvety tones of the stormy sky and the rich, vibrant red of the cottage, I used layers of high-quality watercolor washes. Delicate white acrylic paint was used for the window frames and fine details, adding clarity and making the cozy architecture pop against the dark backdrop.

With a paper size of 23.3 × 31.3 cm (approx. A4), this horizontal landscape is perfect for a smaller frame with a mat/passe-partout. It will look charming on a shelf in a study, as a cozy accent on a nightstand, or part of a nature-themed gallery wall in a living room.
